Big Bill Thompson's tractor from the Killarney Mountain Camp photo album.
Big Bill was the 'Gangster Mayor' of Chicago and associate of Al Capone.
That tractor towed a sled over from the Pool at Baie Fine to Three Narrows Lake portage. The sled had a big stuffed easy chair nailed to it. Big Bill Thompson would ride over the trail on the sled.
"Three kids fromĀ Camp Manitou" who paddled to 'The Pool' at the end of Baie Fine and visited the Spreadboroughs during the summer of 1930.
They signed and sketched in the 'Spreadborough Registry' ..."This is the high spot of our trip."..."Civilization found here."..."Finally found enough food." Thanks for the photograph Christina Jones.
